Both the Google nest and Hive are just smart thermostat that turn on the heating on and off but what about the spare room you don't use why would you want to heat areas of the house that don't get used? The second reason I wouldn't fit the Google Nest or Hive is you can only control the temps in the room that they are fitted.

So you can have the living room at 21°C, the bathroom at 18°C and have the spare bedroom off. Also these work with Google home, Apples Siri and Amazon Alexa see the table to see which works best for you.
